Jean-Philippe Viens is a circus artist living in Montréal and performing mostly within Canada.
His experience in more than 50 different shows has taken him too many different places, from the
town of Percé to Toronto. Jean-Philippe specializes in aerial disciplines with his focus being
mostly on Spanish Web and Straps. Along with aerial disciplines he also has experience in
acrobatics, hand to hand, hand balancing, juggling and fire manipulation.
After four years of perfecting his technique in the Spanish Web, Jean-Philippe has taken those
skills and applied them to the Cyr Wheel. Through his work with the wheel, Jean-Philippe has
found a new awareness and connection to the ground which does nothing but enhance both his
ground and aerial performances.
Jean-Philippe’s circus training is enhanced by both his martial arts training, which he practiced
for more than 15 years, as well as his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, specializing in athlete
training which he received in 2008. It’s with his title of kinesiologist that Jean-Philippe has
been working with Cirque du Soleil since 2008.
